OAKLAND — Behind 32 points from Graham Harvey, Southern won its season opener 68-48 over Hampshire on Tuesday.
Harvey scored 15 points in the third quarter and went 10 of 11 at the line for the Rams (1-0).
Jacob Brown finished with 17 points for Southern.
Matt Medina led the Trojans (0-1) with 22 points including 15 in the first half.
The Rams led 19-12, 34-27 and 54-36 through the first three quarters.
Hampshire won the junior varsity game 42-24 led by Chase Brill's 13 points and Adam Riggleman's 12.
Landon Whitehair led Southern with 10 points.
Southern plays at Grafton on Wednesday night.
Hampshire hosts Moorefield on Thursday at 1 p.m.
Bishop Walsh 46, Calvary 44
CRESAPTOWN — Michael Caporale and Jackson Miller combined for 31 points, leading Bishop Walsh over Calvary on Tuesday.
Caporale led the Spartans (1-1) with 18 points, scoring nine in each half.
Miller finished with 13 points including eight after halftime.
Josh McHenry paced the Eagles (0-2) with 18 points, scoring 10 in the second half.
Blake Yoder scored 12 of his 16 points in the fourth quarter for Calvary.
Bishop Walsh led 8-2, 20-11 and 37-28 through three frames.
The Eagles play at Cumberland Valley on Friday. The Spartans host Clear Spring Wednesday at 7 p.m. and New Life on Friday.
Keyser 67, Preston 65
KINGWOOD, W.Va. — Leading 52-51 heading to the fourth, Keyser's Lane Champion put the Golden Tornado on his back.
Champion scored nine of Keyser's 15 fourth quarter points, guiding the Tornado (1-0) over Preston on Tuesday.
Champion finished with 12 points, nine rebounds, four steals and an assist.
Trey Dawson scored 15 of his team-high 21 points in the first half, adding 14 rebounds, two steals and a block.
Braylon McGreevy scored 16 points with seven rebounds.
Kash Jenkins led both teams with 22 points for the Knights while Aidan Schmidl added 17.
Keyser heads to Musselman on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
